Edward Wallace Adamowicz, 84, of Hobart St., Southington died Friday, (October 31, 2003) at Bradley Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Julia (Garboski) Adamowicz. Born in New Britain on Sept. 7, 1919, Edward was the son of the late Felix and Amelia (Ciereszko) Adamowicz. Ed served his country during World War II, serving as a flight engineer on a B-24 Liberator for the 125th Army Airways Squadron in the China-Burma-India theater. After his honorable discharge, Ed worked for Associated Spring in Bristol for over forty years before retiring and sold Knapp Shoes to many people in the community for over twenty years. After his retirement, he worked for his son as permittee at Matty's Cordial Shoppe in Southington for several years. He was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church and a member of The Holy Name Society. He is survived by his loving children, Susan M. Adamowicz of Southington, Edward F. Adamowicz of Rockvale, TN and James E. Adamowicz and his wife Janet of Plantsville; five cherished grandchildren, Scott, Kevin and Julia of Rockvale, TN, and Robin and Daniel of Plantsville. He is also survived by a brother, Joseph Adamowicz, of North Port, FL; and a sister, Bertha Kirschenheiter, of Marston Mills, MA; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Stanley, Walter and Lawrence Adamowicz and a sister, Mary Olander. The funeral will be held on Monday at 8:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., to the Immaculate Conception Church at 9 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 3-6 p.m. The family would like to express their appreciation to Edward's caregivers, Stanistawa Jaworska and Monika Cwieka. Their special and loving care was greatly appreciated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edward's memory to the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Connecticut, Inc., 205 W. Main St., New Britain, CT 06052.
