William George Abraham, 85, of Vance Street, the loving husband of Arpenig "Peggy" (Dilanjian) Abraham, died Saturday, (May 20, 2006) night at New Britain General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Persia, the son of the late Pirus and the late Sophie (Hattam) Abraham, he came to the United States at six months old, was raised in Gary, IN, and moved to New Britain in 1945 where he was employed at New Britain Machine Company until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, and B.P.O.E. Post #957. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mark Alan Abraham Sr. and Kathleen Abraham of New Britain; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Pirus Abraham Jr. and his wife Joann of Livingston, CA, Albert and Darlene Abraham of Modesto, CA, and Robert and Betty Abraham of Hughson, CA; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Ann Matson of Turlock, CA, and Lillian and William Gordon of Modesto, CA; two beloved grandsons who cherished and adored him, Mark Abraham Jr. and Nicholas Abraham; and several nieces and nephews. He will always be remembered for his heart of gold and his warm caring personality. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 147 West Main Street, New Britain. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. Friends and relatives are invited to call at Porter's Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway in Kensington on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Connecticut Chapter, 279 New Britain Road, Kensington 06037.
