IDA T. ORR BISHOP
Died at her home near Kingston, July 29, 1903-aged 37 years, 4 months and 15 days.
The deceased was a daughter of John and Prudence Orr, who came to this county in the fall of 1865. She was a sister of Mary Houghton, Sallie Morris and Wm. and Chas. Orr, and the wife of Chas. E. Bishop. To their union five children were born, one of whom died in infancy, the other four with the husband survive her and mourn their loss.
The character of our beloved dead was true and noble, and in all respects she measured well up to the high standard of true womanhood, as given in the portrait by the inspired artist in Prov. xxxi:25-She look well to the ways of her household, working willingly with her hands; she reached forth her hands to the poor and needy. In her, the heart of her husband safely trusted, and she opened her mouth with wisdom, and in her tongue was the law of kindness.
This was so beautifully exemplified shortly before her death in the private talk with her family, which only a true christian mother could give, and will never be forgotten by the household. Today her children call her blessed, her husband also, and he praiseth her. The woman that feareth the Lord shall be praised. Therefore this handmaid of the lord is now honored.
Her loving and useful life has been brought to a close. She will be missed by the church and community. She had been quite a sufferer by times for the past six or seven years but during her recent painful sickness she never failed to leave on those she met the impress of a decided and beautiful christian character. She showed remarkable patience, and her home-going was beautiful.
The universal esteem in which she was held was shown by the large number who attended the funeral services, which were conducted in their new home by her pastor, Rev. C.P. Blayney, of the Presbyterian church.
She rests, awaiting the coming of loved Ones. B.
