Mary Armente Camp, daughter of Isaiah (1833-1903) and Rachel M (Conant)(c1845 - ) Camp, born in Ohio, probably Ashtabula County where the family lived in 1870. Isaiah and Rachel married in Ashtabula County, Ohio 19 Sep 1857. Mary had an older brother, Arsailno Bert Camp, born about 1859, also in Ohio. Mary's father, Isaiah, married second in 1864, Samantha Jane Waste (1843-1880)daughter of John Warren Waste and Lucy D Parker. Mary had five half-brothers, Harlow D. b.1865, Charles W. b.1870, Newell Andrew b.1874, Francis Isaiah b.1877, John b.1882 and one half-sister, Flora L. b.1868.
Mary's first husband was Seth Newell Combs, born in Hartford, Trumbull County, Ohio (1836-1921). Seth and Mary were married in Linesville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania in 1877. Seth was the son of Seth Newell Combs (1803-1860) and Fanny Ganyard (1802-1887). Seth had previously been married (m. 25 Dec 1865)to Mary's step-mother's sister, Lovina Winfred Waste (c1850-). Seth's Civil War pension records indicate that there were no children from his first marriage and that Lovina "run away with another man." Seth and Mary resided in North Shenango, Crawford County, Pennsylvania in 1880. Their first three children were born in Pennsylvania, Alfred Vern (1878-1943), Wallace Martin (1879-1939), and Bert Isaiah (1881-1940). The 1890 Veterans Schedule finds Seth and Mary living in Ashtabula County, Ohio. Seth and Mary had two more children, Charles Pearl (1886-1939)and Coral Izar (1893-1965) both born in Ashtabula County, Ohio. Seth's pension records indicate that he and Mary divorced about 1894, he wrote in 1897, "second wife is still living at Conneaut, O. but claims to have got a divorce in past three years and has remarried. We have not lived together for the past three years." Seth married Mary E.(Waste)Lane Church (1847-) on 13 Aug 1899 at Ashtabula County, Ohio. Mary E. was the older sister of Seth's first wife, Lovina Winfred Waste, and a younger sister of Mary Armente's step-mother, Samantha Jane (Waste) Camp.
The 1900 census indicates that Mary married William Abbey about 1896, Charles Combs and Coral Combs lived with William and Mary in 1900 in Conneaut, Ashtabula County, Ohio as well as Charles Bowers, William's grandson, age 11 (b. Sept 1888)and a border, George Warner. Whether William's surname is Abbey or Albee is a matter of on-going research. By 1904 Mary was living with her first-born son Alfred Vern Combs in Cleveland. George Abbey appears in Conneaut city directories in 1902 and 1904 with no wife mentioned. Mary Armente Camp/Combs/Abbey married George Almon Turck 3 Jul 1905 in Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, Michigan. The marriage record indicates that Mary Armente Camp-Combs was a widow. It was George's first marriage. George (1878-1956) was born in Plymouth, Wayne County, Michigan. He was the son of John and Anna (Sharp) Turck. George and Mary lived in Chelsea, Washtenaw County, Michigan where they were recorded in both the 1910 and 1920 census. George and Mary had no children. Mary died in Chelsea, Washtenaw County, Michigan in 1922. Later that year George married Grace E Wilcox (1878-1956). Mary's first husband, Seth Combs, died in Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio in 1921.
