Charles Adams was born January 16, 1843 at Alexandra, Indiana. Died a this home in Havensville, January 30, 1915, being 72 years and 14 days old. He was the third child of Benjamin and Hannah Adams. He moved from Indiana to Wisconsin in 1865 and was married December 6, 1868 to Phebe Catherine LaRue at Boaz, Wisconsin. To this union two sons were born, Henry F. of this place and Joseph W. of Holton. The family moved from Wis consin to Iowa in 1883 and to Kansas in 1887, settling in Smith county. On account of the continued drought in western Kansas, they moved to this vicinity in 1891 where they have since resided.
Those left to mourn are his aged companion, two sons, three grandchildren, one brother and three sisters.
He enlisted in Company F. 155th regiment of Indiana, on March 21, 1865, and was discharged from service August 4, 1865, at Dover, Delaware.
The funeral service was held at the home Monday forenoon conducted by Rev. E. O. Raymond of the M. E. church and burial was in the city cemetery, in charge of Havensville Post of which he was a member.
Mr. Adams was a good neighbor, a home man, very industrious, and one who attended to his own affairs.
