Pastor of St. Mary of the Visitation Parish in Houlton, ME for nine years (1870-1879). Fr. Bartley was reportedly much beloved by his parishioners. Upon his death at age 43, Fr. Bartley was interred in this cemetery. Upon construction of the second St. Mary's in the 1880s, his remains were move to a place of honor near the entrance of the church building. His remains and memorial stone were later moved to the cemetery in 1958 after the second church burned and a new one was being constructed.
