Dr. T. M. Brister Dies at Bogalusa
Dr. Truss M. Brister died at the ESM hospital following a major operation which he underwent Aug. 7th. Funeral services will be held here Sunday morning with interment Sunday afternoon in Bogue Chitto, MS.
The deceased, the son of the late James Brister and Arminda Hodges Brister, was born in Bogue Chitto and his early schooling was received in that community. He obtained his premedical work at Sewanee, TN, and later graduated from the University of Tennessee. Later he took a special course in medicine at Tulane and postgraduate work at Rochester, N.Y.
He came to Bogalusa in 1915. During the World War he went overseas and served as a lieutenant in medical corps, first with a French unit and later with an American unit. He returned in 1919 and joined the staff of the ESM hospital.
He is survived by four sisters and one brother, Miss Mayme Brister, Mrs. N. R. Currie of Jackson, MS, Mrs. B. F. Byrd of Nashville, Mrs. Chester Nixon of Belzoni, MS, and John Brister of Bogue Chitto.
