Mrs. Sarah Brister Illness, Brookhaven, Mississippi, Semi Weekly Leader, 7 March 1923, p. 4
Distress in the Brister Family
President J. Q. Brister of the Board of Supervisors, has been detained from active duties as presiding officer and member from District 3, because of the critical illness of his mother, Mrs. Sarah Brister, who has typhoid fever, the virulent disease from which another son, Mr. Eugene Brister, has been suffering the past two months and who is still detained at the hospital. Mrs. Brister has passed her three score and ten and her devoted children and friends are, therefore apprehensive of the outcome of the malady preying upon her strength and vitality. All are hoping for the recovery of the good woman who is greatly beloved in her neighborhood.
In this connection the Leader learns that one of the nurses who has been attending Mr. Eugene Brister at the hospital has been smitten with the disease and has left Brookhaven for her home-town.
