William "Bill" T. Crutchfield, 82, of Fort Madison died at 6:03 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, at his home.
Born April 22, 1927, in Chillicothe, Ill., he was the son of Thomas W. and Ethel H. Bornsheuer Crutchfield. On Oct. 18, 1980, he married Jerry Ann Bell in Lexington, Mo.
Mr. Crutchfield worked as a general foreman of the bridge and building department for Santa Fe Railroad, retiring in 1986. He served in the Navy Seabees during World War II. He was a member of SS. Mary and Joseph Church and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, camping, bridges and trains.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Paul Crutchfield of Fort Madison and Jaris Crutchfield of Orlando, Fla.; three daughters, Martha Boyle of Chillicothe, Marcia Kash of West Bloomfield, Mich., and Jil Schuetz of Centerville, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Louise Gire of Tuscola, Ill., and Mary Bell Riggins of Chillicothe.
He was preceded in death by one grandchild, his parents and one brother.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory in Fort Madison where the family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m., and the rosary will be recited at 6 p.m.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Crutchfield will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at SS. Mary and Joseph Church with the Rev. Mark P. Spring officiating. The body will be cremated following the service.
