Paul was born in Diefflen, Dillingen, LK Saarlouis, Saarland, Germany, a small village alongside the Prims river, a tributary of the Saar River. His parents are Jacob Bach and Barbara Lauer. His mother died in 1863, leaving him as the youngest of three children. His father then re-married, giving him seven half siblings. In October of 1883, Paul emmigrated to America, along with his older brother Peter. His other brother, Johann, stayed behind and lived the rest of his life in Germany. The two brothers first settled in Murray County Minnesota and then later on moved to Miner County, South Dakota, near the small town of Epiphany. Here he met his wife and married, later having four children together, the eldest one being my grandmother, Catherine Christine Bach.
In August of 1905 the family moved to Stearns County Minnesota; Paul died in the St Josephs Home in Saint Cloud, Sherburne County, Minnesota.
