Frances “Fran” Alston passed away on Tuesday,
September 16, 2014 at the age of 102.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on
Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the Garden of
Memories Cemetery with Reverend Brian Brownlow.

Ms. Alston was born on October 23, 1911 in
Trent, Texas and was raised in Merkel, Texas.
She graduated from Merkel High School and
graduated from Texas Christian University (TCU)
in 1931. On June 14, 1931, she married M.C.
“Red” Alston. They moved to Sweetwater in
1933 and lived there until moving to Denver,
Colorado to be near her daughter thirteen
years ago. Fran was a member of First
United Methodist Church and was a homemaker.
She enjoyed sharing her life with her family
and friends.

Survivors include: Daughter- Kay Armstrong
and husband, Freddie, of Westminister, CO;
Son- Gary Alston and wife, Rita, of Austin,
TX; Grandson- Kirk Alston of Austin, TX;
Granddaughters- Lisa Sartin of Austin, TX,
Pamela Whitlock of Broomfield, CO, Kristi
Walker of Surprise, AZ, Gretchen Huddleston
of Austin, TX, Patricia Olson and husband,
Gary, of Platteville, CO, Ann Spencer of
Midland, TX; 16 Great-grandchildren-
Kristopher Whitlock, Tyler Walker, Megan
Walker Nash and husband, T.J., Tanner Sartin,
Courtney Ponz and husband, Joe, Hayley Sartin,
Taylor Ann Sartin, Andrea Manriquez and
husband, Jose, Cooper Olson, Breana Olson,
Holcombe Huddleston, Wilson Huddleston,
Georgia Huddleston, Blake Spencer, Brittany
Spencer, Brooke Spencer and 12 Great Great
Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband,
M.C. “Red” Alston, on October 5, 1986,
and a brother, Jack Trent Anderson, and
her parents, Robert O. and Georgia Anderson.
