Death: Jan. 7, 1933

James Abner, the son of James Monroe, Jr. and Elizabeth (Huntington) Dunn, grew up in Clermont County, OH, but moved with his family to Rock Island County, Il, where he was married to Anna Bateman on Oct. 16, 1867. They migrated west after the births of their first three children and settled for a time in Lucas County, Iowa, where three more children were born. Still later they moved on west to Kansas, where three more children were born. Four of their children died in infancy.

When the Cheyenne-Arapaho lands in Oklahoma were opened to homesteading, he made the "Run" into Custer County and filed on a quarter section in Custer County near the present town of Stafford.

Mr. Dunn was a farmer until he and his wife moved into the town of Arapaho, where he was for a time the bailiff of the county court of Custer County. His wife passed from this life on May 13, 1919 and in 1920 he was married to Sarah Lemons, a widow. She, too, preceded him in death on Aug. 4, 1929. Mr. Dunn was converted and joined the Methodist Church in early manhood and remained active in the church until his death. He was laid to rest at the Arapaho Cemetery, as were his two wives.

Survivors include: three sons and two daughters; W. R., of Stafford, E. D., of Arapaho, G. L., of Clinton, Mrs. Lizzie Carmichael, of Butler and Mrs. Emma Chapman, of Leedey. Also, 20 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren, as well as three brothers and one sister; J. H., of Clifton, KS, B. F., of Blue Earth, Minn., Howard, of Aledo, IL, and Mrs, J. A. Gray, of Pueblo, CO.
