Clark L. (Pete) Alford
Died at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. He was 55, a native of St. Helena Parish and a resident of Jackson. He was foreman of the electrical shop at East Louisiana State Hospital where he was employed for more than 25 years. Body at Charlet Funeral Home, Zachary. Prayer service at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Friday. Body then taken to First Baptist Church, Jackson. Religious services at the church at 2:30 p.m. Friday, conducted by the Revs. C.A. Martin, Paul Carter and J.W. Taylor. Interment in New Zion Cemetery, Kentwood. Survived by his wife, Estelle Courtney Alford, Jackson; four sisters, Mrs. Percy (Clara) McGraw, Jackson, Mrs. James (Mae) Manchester, Jackson, Mrs. Sam (Claudia) Humphrey, Baton Rouge and Mrs. Daisy Tate, Jackson; a brother, John Dean Alford, Kentwood; and a number of nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Jack Alford; two sisters, Mrs. Readie Stewart and Mrs. Myrte Thibault. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson, Masonic Lodge No. 2u7 F&M and Feliciana Post 3645, veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a veteran of World Ward II. Active pallbearers: Albert LeGroue, Clark Humphrey, Johnnie Johnson, A.J. Stewart, Morris Humphrey and Mike Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of the electric shop at the East Louisiana State Hospital, Davis Folkes, Lionel Gremillion and Guy Broyles.
