During the American Rev. War, Pvt. Paul Abney enlisted in the 14th Virginia Continental Line in December 1777 at Charlottesville, Albemarle Co., VA. As a private he served seven years. He was engaged in the Battles of Brandywine, Eutaw Springs, Sand Hill & Guilford Courthouse.
He married Rhoda Norman March 1785 in Greenville, SC near where his father lived.
He was the son of Paul & Isabella Abney and grandson of Dannett & Mary Lee Abney of Albemarle Co., VA.
He died June 15, 1815 in Jackson Co., TN but a memorial marker was placed in Illinois with his family.
