Permelia Rebecca Simon was the daughter of George Simon & Celia Reger Simon. She was born @ West Point, Va (according to her obit) on Sept 1, 1847. She had the following siblings: Letha, Mary, Abram, Jacob (my great grandfather) & John.
Rebecca (as she was called) moved with her family from VA to northern MO before the Civil War. They had lived in Sullivan, Adair & Linn Counties.
Rebecca was united in marriage to Matthew Wallace Camp on Sept 22, 1872 at Linn Co, MO. Shortly after their marriage, Rebecca & Matthew moved to Republic Co, KS where they were pioneer homesteaders and raised their family. In 1902, they moved to Sheridan Co, KS. Matthew passed away in 1905 and Rebecca remained in Sheridan Co until 1919, then moved to Iowa to live with her son Clinton.
Rebecca & Matthew were the parents of 8 children: John, Abraham Jackson, Joseph Lee, William Henry, Clinton Charles, Jacob Perry, Maggie (aka Margaret) Celia and Georgia F.
Rebecca died on May 25, 1993 at the home of her son, Clinton, at Melbourne, Iowa at the age of 86 years, 8 months and 25 days.
Rebecca is buried next to Matthew here at Rexford Cemetery. At the time of her death she was survived by 6 of her children, one sibling (brother Abram Simon) 20 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
