Christine K. Webb DeRoest
(Dec. 25, 2011)

Christine K Webb DeRoest, 61, gets to write her own obit. How funny is that? Actually, I think I like it. The melanoma that I had surgery on two years ago came back and attacked my liver. By the time we caught it, it had snowballed out of control and it was too late. So… I'm on to greener pastures.
I am survived by my dad, Bob Webb of Thayne, Wyo. I am preceded in death by my mother, Bonnie Jean Schulte.
I am the oldest of 7 kids: brothers, Craig Webb of Caldwell, Idaho, David Schulte of Grand Junction, Colo. and Mike Schulte of Parachute, Colo.; sisters, Cecilia Carmack of Tacoma, Wash., Tori Hall of Mariposa, Calif., Debbie Franklin of Baker City, Ore. and Paula Marr of Haines, Ore. I married the love of my life, Ronnie DeRoest, on Dec. 26, 1972. Sorry this happened so close. We have two of the most wonderful sons, Jody and Ron Jr. I am so proud of them. We have five grandchildren, Brandon, Mathew, Lauren, Max and Madison. I love them so much. It is very fun being a grandmother. My daughters-in-law, they are so awesome, I don't even know what to say. My sons picked well. O.K., now to my friends. I had no idea I had so many! I don't even know where to start, but you know who you are. Margie Clayton, take care girl. I'll be keeping my eye on you. Ms. Na, you're the best. Always had fun – no regrets. I'll be watching you too. And to Larry – the only boyfriend my husband let me have (strictly platonic of course). I love you dearly and will be watching over you also.
Now, to my husband. I love you more than life itself. You will not be without me. I want you to hang in there and stay close to the kids.
To my brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and Miss America, I love you all very much.
Christy passed in the evening on Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011. Her last days were spent with beloved family and friends in celebration of her life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Ron DeRoest to help pay for medical and funeral expenses. This may be done through Coles Tribute Center, 1950 Place St., Baker City, OR 97814.
