Ella E. French, 89, of Hatfield, died Thursday in North Penn Convalescent Residence, Lansdale. She was the wife of the late William F. French and George W. Herman.

Born in Sellersville, she was a daughter of the late Herman H. Sr. and Laura S. (Reichard) Nase.

She was chaplain of Juliana Park American Legion Auxiliary Post, Philadelphia County, for 17 years.

Survivors: Daughter, Miriam, wife of Melvin Kratz of Hatfield; brothers, Ralph E. of Jenkintown, Montgomery County, and Noah W. of Phoenix, Ariz.; sisters, Leona M. Freed of Perkasie, Marion A. Brown of Clearlake, Calif., Elizabeth M. Tyson of Cape May Courthouse, N.J., Helen E., wife of Baron W. Fluck of Telford, Evelyn L., wife of Howard DeLong of Pennsburg, and Violet B. Zettlemoyer of Hatfield; stepdaughters, Lillian Morris of Philadelphia and Louise, wife of William Banes of Homestead, Allegheny County; four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
