MR. ROBERT DAVID BICKEL, Sr., 84, of Lake City passed away Wednesday May 14, 2008 after an extended illness. Mr. Bickel was born in Jasonville, Indiana and then moved to the Lake City area in 1935. Mr. Bickel served his country in the United States Navy, after which he spent most of his life as a carpenter. In his spare time Mr. Bickel liked to hunt, fish, and he enjoyed gardening. Mr. Bickel was preceded in death by his wife Velva Lucille Clark Bickel.
Mr. Bickel is survived by his son Robert "David" Bickel, Jr. of Lake City, two daughters Robin Johnson of Lake City, Olive Rose Bias of Ft. White, and a sister Rosalie Arrants of Palatka, Florida. Seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, numerous other nieces and nephews, and other family members also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Bickel will be conducted graveside in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Friday May 16, 2008 at 11:00 AM., with Rev. Ken Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5-7:00 PM.
