Sam was born to Oscar and Maggie Barnes September 9, 1910 in Augusta, Texas. He attended Augusta Public School. In 1942 he was married to Ethel B. Hayes.
He united with Brewington Baptist Church. He served as Sunday School Superintendent and Deacon. In 1953, he moved to Houston, Texas and united with Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where he served in many capacities. He faithfully fulfilled his religious obligations until his death. He was a good community person.
He leaves to mourn his wife Ethel, two children by aprevious marriage, Kaye Francis Barnes[Floyd] Green and Lloyd Stanley[Delia Faye] Barnes, one grand daughter Elisabeth Sandra Barnes. One Sister Rosie [Governor] Phillips; one brother James L. [Zerline] Barnes.
