Lois Damon Bassett, born in Milton, Massachusetts on June 16, 1757 was a daughter of Noah Damon 1723 – 1799 and Hannah Merrifield. Her siblings were Noah Damon 1760 – 1853 Priscilla Damon 1760 – 1840 and Jedediah Damon 1762 – 1830.
Lois married Hayward Bassett a direct male descendent of William Bassett, born in England who immigrated from Leyden, Holland to Plymouth Colony in 1621 on the ship "Fortune". Hayward was born in Bridgewater, a town in Windsor County, Vermont, United States. Hayward was a son of Seth Bassett 1715 – 1776 and Mary Hayward Bassett 1718 – 1776 both of Bridgewater, Massachusetts. He was born in Milton, Norfolk, Massachusetts. His siblings were Mary Bassett 1738 – Sarah Bassett 1738 – Corp Seth Bassett 1739 – 1833 -Corporal in the Revolutionary War and Zachariah Bassett 1759 – 1853 - Served in the Connecticut Continental Line.
Hayward and Lois married some time in 1787 in Bridgewater, Windsor, Vermont. From this union they became the parents of at least two sons: Seth Bassett 1787 – 1876 and Zachariah Bassett 1794 – 1833.
Seth Bassett and Lois Damon Bassett were buried in Kellogg-Bassett Cemetery. The cemetery supposedly lies in a wooded area surrounded by three state parks. Her husband, Zachariah survived her by 31 years. He died at age 90 never marrying again.
