Mrs. S. H. Bird, 88, of Oakfield, died Wednesday night at Rolling Meadows where she had resided for the last year and a half.

Born Jan. 13, 1877, in the Town of LeRoy in Dodge County, she was the daughter of Bennett and Mary Graham Samson. She attended Oshkosh Normal School and taught school at Beaver Dam. Following her marriage to Mr. Bird on March 28, 1899, they lived most of their married life in South Byron, moving to Oakfield in 1948.

Mrs. Bird was a charter member of the south Byron Methodist Church and a member of the Oakfield Methodist Church. She was also a member of societies of both churches and a member of the Oakfield Study Club.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. L. H. Cowles, Oakfield; four sons, Robert and Bennett Bird of Brownsville, R. l, Sidney Bird of Ripon, and Norris Bird of South Byron; 28 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1948, two daughters and two sisters.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at Kohls Col. Funeral Home in Oakfield until noon on Saturday when the body will be moved to the Oakfield Methodist Church where it will lie in state until time of the services.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Samuel Godfrey of East Troy officiating, assisted by the Rev. M.A. Kunkel of Oakfield. Burial will be in Avoca Cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. S. H. Bird, who died Wednesday, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Oakfield Methodist Church. Rev. Samuel Godfrey officiating assister by Rev. M. A. Kunkel.

Solo selection was sung by Rev. Mr. Kunkel and Mrs. Douglas MacLean was at the organ. Burial was in Avoca Cemetery at Oakfield.

Pallbearers were Davis Steiner, Stanley Bird, Thomas Bird, Michael Bird, Leonard Monte and Thomas Henke.
