Norah and her sister were each born in Ottawa and adopted separately by James and Jean Cleland.
The Clelands, who had wished for children for years, were overjoyed to have two beautiful little girls. The family lived in Listowel where their home was named "Elmwood" after Jim's cheese factory.
It was a beautiful home with lots of space for kids to explore. The front yard was huge, full of all kinds of flowers their mother grew. Behind the house were apple orchards and lots of hives where their father tended his bees. The honey was delicious.
Norah was married twice, first to Richard Ellis about 1947 with whom she had four children including a set of twins. In the 1960s she married James Jenner.
