From the Silver Creek Sand newspaper of August 12, 1938. Clinton Colby, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Colby, and Miss Opal Ruth Shepherd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. F. Shepherd, drove to Central City Thursday afternoon to procure a marriage license and be married at once. The groom has been a resident of this community for the past several years, making his home with his parents, two miles north of Havens. The bride was born and raised in this community, and is a graduate of the Silver Creek high school, class of 1938, having been an honor student and editor-in-chief of the Kreeketeer. The young folks will commence housekeeping at once on the Shepherd eighty, four miles west of Silver Creek.
They had two children;
Carolee Martha C. - b. 1937
Betty Louise C. - b. 1942
