Roy was the son of James Leander Coley and Melissa Magnolia Jackson. They both preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Lennie (also a twin) of the home and his two children.
"Roy "Shorty" Coley was born in Love County Oklahoma. in 1908 along with his twin Brother Troy . He grew up on a Farm, and had a lot of fun and hard work in his younger years. He told me about some of his stunts, like the time Grandpa bought Troy a Mule and got Roy a Goat which made him mad so he hid in some tall grass and when Troy road by on his new mule Roy jumped out and scared the mule which threw Troy off, daddy began laughing until he looked around and saw grandpa standing by watching the whole thing. Grandpa told Roy he was going to get a whipping later. Well a couple of days went by and still no whipping so daddy felt better. Grandpa and daddy were at the barn c leaning up some hay when grandpa bent over and daddy's goat butted him in the rear and knocked him over the hay stack which made daddy laugh, when grandpa got up he got his belt and told daddy if he understood what the whipping was for and daddy said what his goat had done and his laughing, but grandpa told him no it was for what he had done two days before to Troy. Well Saturday came and grandpa and grandma was going to town, so daddy felt it was time to get even with the mule, so he got a transformer from an old telephone and so me wiring out of the shed, and went out to the barn and hooked the wiring to the mules nose and started to crank up the transformer. He said the mule kicked and really went crazy then he looked around and sure enough there stood grandpa. Roy Married a girl named Jewel Iva Webb and they had three kids Name Joy, Joann & Jackie two girls and a boy. After the boy was born they split up and went their own way. The people I have talked to say that they remained friends after the breakup I don't know because no one ever told me about my mother. Guess I was just too much for the both of them because they sent my oldest sister Joy to live with my aunt Ethyl, my sister Joann to live with a Cousin Winnie May, and myself to live with my grandparents Jim & Melissa Col ey. This all happened in 1938 In 1941 Daddy remarried to Lennie Sanders where they ran around the country for a couple of years with her son S.L. and in 1943/44 they came and took Joann & myself to live with them in Oklahoma City, Okla. Joy went to live with Mother. Joann and I visited mother and Joy in 1947 for two days and I saw them again in 1950. Mother came to see Grandpa Webb's in Oklahoma City and I rode back with them to Denver Colorado where I visited with Joy & Owen for a couple of days. Never saw my mother again after that. I contacted Joy again in Tulsa Oklahoma via telephone in 1985. Later Owen & Joy moved to Oklahoma City and they came to visit Teresa & me the meeting was great and we started seeing each other and to our surprise even thou gh we had grown up apart we were very much alike and now we love each other very much, after all she is my sister and very much a Coley. Daddy worked at Wilson Packing Co. in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma until he had a heart attack in 1952 because of blocked arteries. He lived with this condition for about 30 years because the doctors were unable to correct the problem at that time. When the doctors were able to do the operation he was too weak but he told them to try anyway because he was not able to do anything the way he was. So they operated and three days later he died. Daddy loved people and liked to get together with friends and family to talk about the old days. He enjoyed new cars. He never spoke to Joy again as far as I know this was his loss and hers."
