HARRY W. ALLYN DIED JULY 3
Passed Away After Long Illness. Remains Were Brought to Lewis
Harry W. Allyn, world war veteran and an expert electrician passed away at his home in Boise, Idaho on July 3rd, following a long illness from that dreaded disease, diabetes. The last illness was preceded by a stroke of apoplexy from which he never rallied.
The remains were prepared for burial and shipped by train arriving in Atlantic Tuesday morning. They were taken in charge of by the Osborne-Tomlinson Funeral directors. The funeral services will be held from the home of his mother, Mrs. Nettie Allyn, in Lewis Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. C. W. Stark, pastor of the Congregational church of Lewis. Burial will be made in the Whipple cemetery. Members of the American Legion will attend the services in a body.
Harry Walker Allyn, son of the late Hubert and Mrs. Nettie Allyn, was born in Lewis August 7, 1892. He grew to manhood in Cass county and was united in marriage to Miss Gladys Burkhalter on April 2, 1920. One daughter, Lenore, was born to this union. Besides the wife and daughter, he is survived by his mother, and one sister, Mrs. William Willoughby, besides numerous other relatives and hundreds of friends. Ten years ago he left Lewis and located in Boise, Idaho, where he was engaged as an electrician. He saw service in the United States army during the war.
Mr. Allyn was a man who held the honor and respect of all. He was a conscientious worker, a good husband and father and a splendid neighbor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The sympathy of all goes out to those who are left to mourn his departure.
