|Birth: ||Feb., 1829|
Nancy Weeks Bennett was the wife of Daniel Berry Bennett. He was born 1825 Vicksburg, Warren Co., MS and died 1905 Bosque Co., TX. Daniel B. Bennett and Nancy Weeks were married Dec 22, 1845 in Madison Co., MS. They left MS and are in Angelina Co., TX on the 1860 census but move to a location near the community of Weches located west of Crockett near the Neches River in Houston Co., TX.
There was a family cemetery on the "Old Bennett Place" where Daniel B. & Nancy settled in Weches, Houston Co., TX, close to the Neches River. Their sons, Henry H. Bennett and Ed Bennett and their families lived in houses next to their father and mother. This fact is confirmed by the 1880 Houston County, TX census. Some time between 1880 when D.B. was age 64 by the 1880 census, but by the age showing on the 1860 census would have been age 54, and before the 1900 census, Nancy Weeks-Bennett died.
Family members say she was buried in the Bennett Family Cemetery, it being a private family cemetery located on their property in Houston County. There were several other family members buried there, also.
The cemetery was directly behind the Bennett house and is located next to the fence that today seperates it from what was their land and the Texas National Forest Land.
The last time the cemetery was visited by family members there were only about 3 headstones and a few rocks to designate graves. It was extremely overgrown and neglected.
