Son of James and Cecily (Ford) Adams. Born in Albemarle County, VA and enlisted as a "minute man" in a militia unit from Fluvanna County commanded by Capt. Roger Thompson and Col. Charles Lewis during the Revolutionary War. Later, he enlisted in a militia unit from Charlotte County commanded by Captain Walker Daniel and Col. Cox. He was an orderly sergeant during that second militia period.
He was married to Jane Cunningham on 19 Jan 1772 in Virginia. They had six children.
According to his pension application (S16306) he moved to Elbert Co., GA around the 1st of January 1799. His pension application of Oct 1832 can be read at the following link:
According to "Early Cemeteries and Gravestones: Elbert County Georgia 1798-1919" compiled by the Elbert County Historical Society in 1984 his grave is "not marked" but located in the James Adams cemetery somewhere off of Double Bridges Rd.
