Son of John and Keziah (Anderson) Armistead. Born in Oglethorpe Co., GA. He was a farmer and built a home on Alcovy Trestle Rd near Alcovy GA. Married Emily Strong Colley, daughter of Elder Joel Colley on 2 Jan 1835. According to some reports, they had twelve children. But, I believe only 10 were raised to adulthood. Lived initially in Walton County. But, moved to Newton County by 1860. Died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. L. Shipley, in Rockdale Co. Buried in the family graveyard across from his home near Alcovy, GA according to his obituary in the "Sunny South".
