SIDNEY - Hugh E. Doucette, 58, of Sidney, died Sunday evening, Feb. 25, 1996, at his residence after a long illness.
He was born April 9, 1937, in Waterville, the son of Lillian E. Doucette (Smith).
He was educated in Waterville schools and was in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a self-employed contractor and president of Doucette Construction Co. He was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Oakland and a former member of the Oakland Lion's Club.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline (Pelotte) Doucette of Sidney; his mother, Lillian (Doucette) Smith of Waterville; four sons, Hugh Doucette Jr. and his wife, Robin, of Oakland, Wayne and his wife Sabrina, of Sidney, Mark and his wife, Brenda, of Oakland, David and his fiancée, Marie, of Oakland; five daughters, Catherine Lewis and friend, Chet, of Clinton, Kim Rackleff and her husband, Peter, of Sidney, Tammy Atkins and her husband, Edward, of Oakland, lori Bond and her husband, Patrick, of Japan, Nancy Otis and her husband, Scott, of Canaan; four brothers, Percy Smith Jr. of Waterville; Stanley Smith of Conn., Robert Smith of New York and Floyd Smith of Winslow; two sisters, Rita St. Pierre of Topsham and Lucille Bouchard of Skowhegan; 23 grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, at the Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, Oakland. Burial will follow in the St. francis Cemetery in Waterville.
