Mrs. Ruth Lucile Alexander, 99, of Lebanon, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at her residence.
Mrs. Alexander was born in Indianapolis on Sept. 1, 1914, a daughter of the now late George H. and Ella Mary (Hahn) Neffle. Reared and educated in Indianapolis, she attended Shortridge High School.
On June 5, 1935, she married Albert James Alexander. Mr. Alexander passed away on Nov. 1, 1991.
From 1959 to 1967, Mr. and Mrs. Alexander owned and operated a Dairy Queen in Indianapolis. She was employed by Meyers Trucking and worked as a bookkeeper for them from 1965 to 1970. The following four years, Ruth worked at Calico Alley Fabrics. The Alexanders moved to Lebanon in 1980.
She was a devoted a wife, mother and grandmother. She and her husband enjoyed square dancing, and were affiliated with many clubs.
Mrs. Alexander was a member of Lebanon Christian Church, and Lebanon Chapter No. 23 Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include two children, five grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; a brother, Charles Neffle; three sisters, Hazel Glickert, Lillian Blanck and Margaret Ella Cook; a son-in-law, Donald Loux; and a daughter-in-law, Connie Alexander.
