Ewen Harrison "Bunk" Akers, 70, of Richmond passed away on October 5, 2013 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born April 26, 1943 in Beattyville, Kentucky to Finley H Akers and Dortha (Dunaway) Akers.
He honorably served in the US Marine Corps. Ewen was employed as a truck driver for 40 years and worked every day he was able. In his spare time he built and remodeled homes. He amazed us with his ability to fix anything. Ewen loved spending time with family and friends and he will be forever missed.
Survivors include his life companion Patricia Reilly; daughters Tonya (Bud) Roland, Bonnie Foltz, Shirley (Paul) Beard, Colleen (Matt) Turner; sons J.C. Akers, Paul Akers; brothers James Coomer, Elmer Coomer, Calvin Roach; sister Janice Sue Kelso and special friends Matt (Tammy) Meyers, Norm (Sandy) Hall and Jimmy Reilly. Other survivors include 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Ewen "Rusty" Akers.
A service to celebrate Ewens' life will be held Friday, October 11, 2013 at 12Noon at Community Family Funeral Home. Friends may call one hour prior to service.
