Near Century Old Lady Mourned
An old and respective citizen of this community closed her eyes in a very peaceful slumber Saturday evening at 9:30 o'clock at the age of 95 years, 8 months, and 7 days.
Mrs Catherine Boehnlein was born in Bayern, Breunsberg, Germany the last day of April 1830 where she was united in marriage to Joseph N. Boehnlein in 1853. The following years they immigrated to America and landed at Marytown where they rented a farm for four years. They then purchased the farm where she had lived the past 67 years.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1892. For the last few years she has been living with her son Nicholas on the homestead.
About three weeks ago she fell on the kitchen floor and fractured her hip from which she never recovered.
Mrs Boehnlein always enjoyed good health and strove to scatter rays of sunshine into the lives of those with whom she associated. She had a kind word for everybody which endeared her to numerous friends.
She was the mother of nine children, only four of which are living as follows; Simon, New Holstein; Joseph, Chilton; Michael on a farm 3 miles west of the city; Nicholas on the old homestead and Sister Melania in the convent at Fond du Lac.
The funeral was held at the Charlesburg Catholic Church on Tuesday morning and the remains were tenderly laid at rest beside those of her departed husband. Rev Joseph Hemmer officiating.
She has been a devout member of the Christian Mothers Society of Charlesburg.
