Florian and Cecelia both about age 26 arrived in New York June 3, 1840, on the ship Republic, which left the port of Bremen, Germany. They were both from Wiesen Fulda, Germany. They were married shortly after arriving. They lived in the Albany NY area until 1849, then came to the Town of Marshfield, Fond du Lac County Wisconsin with three children, Katharina 7, Joseph 4, and John H 2, a fourth child, Maria Margaretha was born in that year at their cabin, which was southeast of Mt Calvary, in section 34. Florian and Cecelia were some of the earliest settlers in the rural area east of Mt Calvary.
Three of the sons went out west in about 1875 to go mining and try to strike it rich according to John Adam's obit. Mathias and John Adam stayed out west and settled there. John H eventually came back to Wisconsin. Mathias spelled his name Dreifurst. The original german spelling is Dreifürst. The u has two dots over it, an umlaut. When converted to english the ü is changed to ue. There are many descendants of Mathias in the Nebraska area. John Adam stayed out west also and spelled his name Dryfurst.
Florian came to America with his brother Ferdinand, his sister Paulina, his step brother Adrian, and his first cousin Johann, although not all at the same time. His sister Eulalia Angela, who married Johann Handwerk stayed in Germany. Paulina married Johann Adam Kempf.
There was also a John Dreifuerst born about 1818 from Saxony, Germany who married Mary Ann Kummers. John was an immigrant. These are the only 6 Dreifuersts that I know of that came to America.
