Frank Webster joined the Royal Air Force prior to World War Two.He joined 610 Squadron at RAF Aclington Northumberland on 28th July 1940.
Flying a Spitfire Mk.1R6595 DW-0 of 610 "County of Cheshire"Squadron,the aircraft was severely damaged by a Messershmitt 109 fighter at 12.40 hours on August 26 1940 during the Battle of Britain.He flew his aircraft to RAF Hawking airfield and was killed while attempting to land.The aircraft caught fire.Frank was 26 years old and was laid to rest in his fathers grave at Sandown Cemetry Sandown Isle of Wight.His name is commemorated at the Battle of Britain Memorial on the Embankment, London
His service number was 82682.One of "The FEW."
