Royce was born in the Lacisled area of Serbia in Yugoslavia just before the Second World War.He had three brothers and two sisters and lived on a farm. His parents used to make plum brandy from the plums grown on the farm.
He left school very early possibly class four to work on the farm.He became a carpenter. The German invasion of Yugoslavia made the family take to the hills and hide.
He married in March 1963 in Slovenia.Royce did have the forsight to come to Australia in 1972.The family lived in Wollongong Cabrimatta and then came to Melbourne.
He had two children Radmilla and Zed.
He worked at "Impala kitchens" after buying a house in Doveton Avenue, Doveton.Royce loved to go to the beach and followed the Serbian Belgrave "Red Star" soccer team. He was such a big fan that he named his son red star! He was hard working and quiet. Royce was a keen chess player and was a punter on the horses. He was very fond of his big Ford Fairlane and kept it in pristine condition. He was a bit of a Ladies man in the Serbian Community around Dandenong. He loved his cats and one of them died soon after his death. It looked for him around his house.
He contracted lung cancer and passed away after a short illness. He was close to his granddaughters Scarlett and Sara and Grandsons Marc and Edmund. His life was an example of how a precious child grew up an angry and disinchanted man through violence and hard times. His Grandchildren called him "Deda."I always remembered his catch cry "Good Luck to You" and it was indeed good luck to meet fall in love with his daughter.
