In the 1860 census Robert (age 30, born in Scotland, farmer), Cordelia (age 20, born in Illinois) and Charles N (age 9/12, born in Illinois) are in Chester. In the 1880 Chester census, Robert and Charles are together. Robert was 49 and Charles N was 21. In the 1900 Chester census, Robert was born Aug 1830 in Scotland and was a widower. He was living with a daughter Alice, born December 1869 in Illinois. I could not find Robert in the 1850 or 1870 census records. The notes I got decades ago from Chester cousins mentioned the son Charles N but not the daughter Alice.
