Coy Barrs, 86, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Sunday, March 21 at the Osceola Nursing Home in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Thursday, March 25, 2010, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla with Rev. Jim Osborn, Rev. Scott Brenton and Dr. Howard McMahan officiating. Interment will follow in Frank Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Barrs was born September 22, 1923 in Ocilla to the late Coy and Lena Hudson Barrs. He lived in Ocilla for the past twenty years from Miami, Florida. Mr. Barrs was retired sales manager and department head of the meat-cutting department for Armour Meat Packing Company. He was a member of the Ocilla United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Frances Taylor Holmes Barrs of Ocilla; son: Don (Barbara) Barrs of Margate, FL; granddaughter: Paula (Grady) Carver of Mims, FL; stepson: Fred (Yang) Holmes of Hialeah, FL; stepdaughters: Judy (Mike) Thirion of Lakeland, FL and Denise (Stephen) Stamper of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; 3 step grandsons as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Brinson Vann Barrs, 1 brother and 2 sisters.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to United Hospice of Cordele, 708 E. 16th Ave., Cordele, GA 31015.
