James Maurcie Gunn was the son of William Alexander Gunn and Estella Elliot. James married Ruby May Lantz on 29 Sept 1920 in Hancock County and lived near New Palestine. They had 3 children: George William Gunn, James "Jim" Gunn and Flora Jean Gunn Arthur. James Maurice Gunn was called "Ponch" by many and "Gramps" by family members. Gramps was my great grandfather and I remember him vividly but especially his deep voice.

James Maurice Gunn
James Maurice Gunn, 100, Greenfield, died Wednesday at Hancock Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Gunn was born Oct. 7, 1898, in Hancock County to William A. and Estelle (Elliott) Gunn. He was married to Ruby M. (Lantz) Gunn, and she preceded him in death.
He was a farmer.
Mr. Gunn was a member of the New Palestine Masonic Lodge for 77 years and a member of New Palestine Methodist Church.
He graduated from New Palestine High School.
Survivors include two sons, George Gunn and James Gunn, both of New Palestine; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by a daughter and two brothers.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Hendryx Mortuary, New Palestine Chapel.
Masonic rites will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the chapel. Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery.
