Bill grew up in Baldwin and graduated from BHS in 1952. He graduated from Hofstra University with a B. Business Admin. in 1956. He enlisted in the U.S Army and served for several years as Sgt. in the field artillery in Germany. He married Joan Scott from Oceanside on 12/1/1956 and they later settled in Massapequa and in Jarretsville, MD in the later years. They had two daughters and a son. He suffered from a heart valve malfunction and died suddenly Jan. 6, 2005. His parents were Samuel G. Fletcher III and Pauline Raynor Fletcher. He is survived by a brother Samuel G. Fletcher IV.
