In a listing of DeWitt County Early Births on the Genealogy Trails website, the birth of one of Miriam's children was recorded:
John Ray Brown, b. 23 Mar 1854, parents Palestine Brown and Miriam Kennedy.
Miriam and P. T. Brown are shown in the 1850, 1860 and 1870 census listings for DeWitt County, Texas. In the 1850 census, all of their children born by then are shown as having been born in Tennessee except for Joseph (aged 1) who was shown as having been born in Texas. That indicates they relocated from Tennessee to Texas between 1845 (last child shown to have been born in Tennessee was Bazil/Basil, aged 5) and 1849 when Joseph was born.
Brown family records show Palestine T. Brown died in 1887 in Gillespie County, Texas where he was living with his son, John. He was a widower by then since Miriam died 28 Mar 1878 as recorded from the inscription on her gravestone as reported in the booklet "Cemetery Records of DeWitt County, Vol. III," by Patsy Goebel and Karen Gohmert.
Miriam's birth date is also from that booklet.
