Mr. Harold "Mike' Alfultis, age 83, of Spring Lake passed away Monday, May 19, 2014 unexpectedly at his home. He was born July 17, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan to Abe and Jewell (Bullock) Alfultis.

Mike graduated from Muskegon Heights High School in 1948 and Michigan State University in 1954. He enjoyed a distinguished career in law enforcement, including serving as Director of the St. Paul (Minnesota) Police Department and Lorain County (Ohio) Crime Labs. He also served as Identification Officer and Drug and Alcohol Counselor for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction. Mike very much enjoyed being a Grandfather and Great Grandfather, watching birds, spending time in his garden, and spoiling any dog. He faithfully attended Ferrysburg Community Church.

On June 23, 1951, he married Joyce Ryefield and she preceded him in death on January 12, 2004. He was blessed to marry his second wife Thelma Lewis Ortquist on March 24, 2008 and she survives him along his six children: Carol Anne of Elyria, OH, Lynn (Richard) Foust of Ashboro, NC, Michael (Kim) Alfultis of Waterford, CT, Chuck (Karen) Alfultis of Colorado Springs, CO, John Alfultis of Chattanooga, TN, and Nancy (Bill) McCarrick, of Naples, FL; four step- children: Sharon (Chuck) Jeske, Kenneth Ortquist, Doris (Jim) Stone, Dale (MaryJo) Ortquist; sister, Elizabeth (Bill) Mastenbrook; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, niece, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, David Joseph Alfultis in 1962.

Funeral services for Mike will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Ferrysburg Community Church with Rev. Nate Visker officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church.
