Lindsey J. Carter, 22, 406 Fifteenth Street, Bedford, died suddenly at 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 1977 in Marietta, Georgia, while on vacation in the Smoky Mountains.
Carter was born September 10, 1955 in Bedford to Jesse T. and Beatrice Tillett Carter. He was married July 13, 1976 to Cynthia Lynn Ingalls, who survives.
A die cast machine operator at Central Foundry, he was a member of the Christian faith and the UAW-CIO, Local 440.
Other survivors include the parents of Oolitic; one sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Johnnie) Carter Parks, Marietta, GA; the paternal grandmother, Mrs. Louise Carter, Bedford and the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Sallie Tillett, Bedford.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Otis Bryan and Rev. Glenn Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the mortuary.
