Robert Canada, 57, a resident of 7722 Ivydale Drive, Indianapolis, and a former Bedford resident, died at 6:05 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 1979, at Community Hospital in Indianapolis. He had been ill for the past week.
An iron worker, he was a native of Burnside, KY and was born August 26, 1921, the son of Dalt E. and Elizabeth Boland Canada. He married Emma Browning March 29, 1946. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Dr. Robert F. Canada and Richard L. Canada, both of Indianapolis; a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Patricia) Robbins of Bedford; two grandchildren; five brothers, Conley of Indianapolis, Harold of Crane, Wayne of Bloomington, and Howard and Ralph of Tampa, FL; a half-brother, Charles McCloskey of Bedford, and a half-sister, Mrs. Lonnie (Elsie) Hayre of Dayton, OH.
He was past president of Local 22, Iron Workers Union, and was a member of the Bedford First United Methodist Church, Bedford Elks Lodge No. 826 and Gillen Post No. 33 of the American Legion.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. at the Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with burial in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. today.
