George A. Baker, 2733 Eastern Avenue, died at 2:50 p.m. in the emergency room of Dunn Memorial Hospital. His death was from a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the stomach. He was 62.
Mr. Baker was born July 4, 1917 in Oolitic to Carl and Lily Cain Baker. He married Aimee Elizabeth Turner on June 24, 1942 and she survives. He was retired from Central Foundry.
Mr. Baker, a veteran of World War Two, was a member of the Bedford F. & A.M. Lodge and was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to his wife, survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Beth) Inman, Vincennes, and Bonnie Baker, a student at Olivet College, Kankakee, IL; one grandson; two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Frances) Beauchamp and Mrs. Crit (Mary) Perry, both of Bedford. Four brothers, Herschel, Russell, Theodore and Otto Baker, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Paul Hoskins officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the mortuary. Masonic rites will be given at the mortuary at 7:00 tonight. Master Masons are asked to be at the mortuary by 6:30 p.m.
