The 1870 Scott, Linn County, Kansas census shows Wilburn A. Adkins, 34, with Rebecca, 27. Grace, 6; Laura, 2; Kora, (Cora) 7 months; Henry Dills, 68; & James Dills, 20; are also listed. All the family members were born in Virginia, except for the infant.
Wilburn is listed as A. W. Adkins, 43, in the village of Fontana in Miami County, Kansas, on the 1880 census. He is listed as a druggist, born in Virginia, with a young wife, "M. F.," age 17, born in Kansas. (Mary F. nee Justice) H. W., age 1, is listed as a son, born in Missouri. (Horace W. Adkins) Daughters L. N., age 12, born in Virginia, and C. C. , age 10, born in Kansas, are also listed.
Mary F. Adkins, age 24, born in Kansas, is listed as a widow on the 1885 Los Animas County, Colorado State census. She is listed with a son, Horace, age 6, born in Missouri; a daughter, Mabel, age 3, born in Colorado; and a son, Reuben, 6 months, born in Colorado.
Mary F. Adkins was listed in Oregon census reports with her son, Horance W. Adkins. They were also listed at the same address in a 1926 Denver, Colorado, city directory. Mary F. Adkins is listed as the widow of Addison W. Adkins in the city directory. His grave has been entered as memorial # 94805236 in Los Animas County, Colorado.
