John M. Allen, 87, of 1111 13th St. died Saturday at his residence.
Allen was born in wood County, a son of the late Major R. and Mary Jane Webber Allen. He was a veteran of World War I and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was retired from American Viscose Corp. after 31 years service. He also had been employed by the firestone Tire and Rubber Co. of Akron, Ohio.
Surviving are his wife, Gretta E. King Allen; three sons, Murl D. Allen of Vienna, Merritt R. of Parkersburg, and Sterling R. Allen of Columbus, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Wilma G. Sheppard of Akron and Mrs. Willadene Wingrove of Vincent, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Nina Mackey of Parkersburg; 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters.
Services will be conducted Tuesday, 11 a.m., at the Leavitt Funeral Home with burial in the Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.
