He was born in Cadiz on March 10, 1928, a son of the late Ralph C. Abel and Mamie (Samples) Abel.
Marion was retired from the former Cambridge State Hospital. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He served his country in the U.S. Army then in the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Abel is survived by his wife, Doris June (Moose) Abel, whom he married Nov. 9, 1950; two daughters, Brenda (Leonard) Bates and Sharon Domoracki, both of Cambridge; one son, Mark (Robyn) Abel of Cambridge; one brother, Donald (Charlyne) Abel of Brunswick; four grandchildren, Terri (David) Martin, Matthew Domoracki, Isaiah Abel and Brianna Abel; and four great-grandchildren, Austin Bates, Madison, Brittani and Olivia Martin.
Visitation will be today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bundy-Law Funeral Home in Cambridge.
A flag presentation will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home by the Guernsey County Veterans Council. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday with the Rev. Dr. Allan Bevere officiating. Burial will follow in Guernsey Memory Gardens.
