Death: Mar. 22, 1969
Boulder

She was born Ona Truskeviciute, to poor Lithuanian farm people. Born in a village, near Keturvalakiai, where the Catholic church was. Her mother died when she was only 11, and she was put out on farms to work. She never learned to read or write. She snuck out of Lithuania at about age 18, traveling by hay wagons and walking. She caught a ship to Scotland, where she worked as a servant until she met Klemensas Paznokaitis, and they married in Feb 1903. They left for America in Nov 1903 and arrived in Dec. She gave birth to eleven children from 1904-1926. Her name was changed to Anna Clemens when she became a citizen in 1918. They settled in Lafayette in 1921, and lived at 104 E. Cleveland St., until her death.
