W.L. Bushong was known as Bill. Bill Bushong was born on June 7, 1851 in Kentucky. In June 1870 Bill married Priscilla Amyx, born Oct.23, 1852. In That same year they were members of a wagon train that left Monroe County, KY and arrived in Ozark County, MO. They raised seven children, plus a daughter, Etta, who died in infancy, and is buried next to them. Bill Bushong was known in his community as a "substantial tiller of the soil" who owned one hundred and sixty acres along Bryant Creek in 1894.
William (Bill) Bushong died on March 3, 1920. However the exact date of Priscilla's death is unknown, sometime before 1900. Their original headstones were hand-carved on brick size chunks of stone or concrete. In 2005 I found them upside down half buried in the dirt; don't know why I turned them over. Now there are modern headstones with no dates. Baby Etta is buried next to them.
