Ann, my 3rd great grandmother, was born in New Jersey probably between 1800 and 1805. Ann may be her middle name. Her first name may be Nancy. She married Moses Bates who was born in New Jersey in 1795. They raised at least five children; Rebecca Ann Bates, Charles P. Bates, Elkanah Harris Bates, Caroline Bates, and Benjamin Franklin Bates. They lived in Chester and Cinnaminson which are in Burlington County, New Jersey. Moses died in May 1860.
After Moses' death, her son, Benjamin, moved in with Ann. They lived in Cinnaminson, Burlington County, New Jersey where she was employed as a gentlewomen. In 1870, she was not living with any of her children but in 1880 she was living with her daughter's [Rebecca Ann] family who also lived in Cinnaminson. Ann died on March 18, 1882, in Cinnaminson. She was buried in Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery in Cinnaminson.
